i have been on bipolar drugs carbamezipine and fluoxetine for abt 20 yrs now I am 35 n getting married.In the meantime i have worked n studied along with medication. Does it affect the baby in case I conceive n shud i stop these medicines when i conceive or plan a baby?
Bipolar disorder does occur more often in relatives of people with bipolar disorder, not always necessarily in children of people who have bipolar disorder.
In terms of stopping medication before or during pregnancy ... please discuss it with your doctor. They will see the risks and see whether you should continue with the same medicines or perhaps go on to other ones. But you will need to take medicines for you disorder.
