If you had googled your question you would have found a wealth of information. I don't like being a information bot where my job is to steal from other sites without attribution. Such as the American liver Foundation and the US National Library of medicine which were in the top 4 results.
It is a nasty triad of issues that result in death without a liver transplant with a short term, high mortality rate.
If you can clear the virus before a transplant all the better as most people respond well to the new liver and the hepatopulmonary syndrome resolves itself quickly.
I have Hepatopulmonary Syndrome (HPS) and did 12 weeks of Harvoni. While Harvoni clears the virus it doesn't do anything for HPS. I still have this liver-lung complication. HPS is beyond Hep C. They are two separate issues, Hep C is a virus and HPS is a complication that can only be resolved with a liver transplant.
