would the use of probiotics help to prevent things like c deficile and Stephen Johnson syndrome?
c. dif, yes, stephen johnson now. I don't know why they don't. If the patient asked the dr to order one I'm sure he would. I kind of cringes when you suggested another pill, if I had a nickel for every pill I've given over the past 45 yrs I'd be wealthy.
It would help C Diff, I'm not sure about the other cDoctors are not taught any "alternative medicine" in school. There aren't tons and tons of scientific data behind it - or the money to do that research, so they are less inclined and not as comfortable in recommending supplements. There just isn't much money in it - there aren't drug reps going around plugging the drug of the month and giving out freebies. Though, to be fair when it comes to probiotics, the problem is that they need to be refrigerated. Doctors, and hospitals are streamlined so each patients meds fit in the med cart. It would be difficult to keep the probiotics alive. Wish I had more hope for the medical profession when it comes to alternative healthcare. Change is coming, but it's very slow. Regards - EJ23
In a word, *money* it all boils down to, can money be made.
