I'm gonna start taking Citalopram 20 mg in the morning ive never been on it what should i watch for!!! I have depression and anxiety i have been on other meds but nothing seems to help i get scared to take new meds is it safe
Like all other medicines , Citalopram obviously can have side effects but that doesn’t mean you’lll get them. I would say watch out for palpitations as these can be one of the side effects . I was on 20mgs and advised at a walk in clinic, to come off of them or at least cut down the dosage because of palpitations , but of course you also have to be careful
doing that doesn’t take you lower . I’d been on different depressants and had the doses changed because of side effects and didn’t want to mess about with different ones anymore , so I I cut down my dose gradually to 15 mgs, which I found surprisingly still controlled my depression and the palpitations stopped. Feeling jittery and headaches was a problem but that went after a few weeks .
Hi, James! You should read the product insert that came with your prescription and you can review citalopram including POSSIBLE side effects at:
Keep in mind that these are side effects that have been reported, but 10% or less of users ever have them. Since you're anxiety prone anyway, don't start working yourself up over it or you'll talk yourself into having every one of them! :-) Take it one day at a time and stay positive!
Always feel free to post with any questions or concerns you may have along the way, okay?
