I have taken Xanax for years to help with panic attacks. My GP does not like to give Xanax because of its addictive properties. I have been unable to get on a plane for about 6 years now, due to my intense fear of having another panic attack while I'm on the plane (this has happened to me several times). My doctor assured me that Ativan will do the trick. I go to see him in a few weeks so I don't have the medication yet and don't know what dosage he will prescribe. He has given me .25 mg of Xanax in the past. Will Ativan keep me from having a panic attack on the plane? I leave 4 weeks from today and already wake up at night afraid of the flight. Typical phobia, I guess. Thanks for any answers or insight.
You should do just fine with Ativan, it acts a lot longer than Xanax does.
Just make sure he gives you enough for the flight there and the flight home.
You are going to do just fine!
P.S while I do agree that Xanax works swimmingly, the Ativan is a better choice.
