Medroxyprogesterone is a a form of progesterone, a female hormone that helps regulate ovulation and menstrual periods. For abnormal bleeding medroxyprogesterone 5 mg is typically taken daily for 10 to 12 days each month. You may need to give it a couple of months to see if it will help regulate your cycle and control bleeding.
