I have Panic Disorder, and I have gone from being prescribed 120 bars a month, to last year 90 Valium a month (3 a day as needed). ( I liked the half life, as a I HATE taking medicine for this.) I am finally down to 1 a day, and I have been on benzo's for.. jeez, the past ten years? Is it possible to quit completely? and how, as I know that often results in seizures.. :(
As long as you continue to reduce your dosage slowly over time, you shouldn't have a seizure. I would talk to the prescribing doctor and discuss the best way to taper off the valium and investigate the possibility of an antidepressant that also treats anxiety. There are many such medications like Zoloft and Lexapro that treat anxiety that are not addictive like the benzo's. Might be worth a talk with the doc.
You're already doing great coming from3mg to 1mg a day, thats a big thing and you obviously can do it,just stick with the tapering so you wont suffer bad withdrawls but keep up the good work.Dont cut the benzo's off completely, take your time with it,you're already after coming a long way, stay decreasing your dose slowly and you will benefit better!
I wish you the best of luck with it.I know suffering with panic is a horrible time,i suffer myself but as Laurie said maybe try other anti anxiety thats not so addictive.
Take care,all the best
