I was taking 5 four mg dilaudid and 25 mgs fentanyl patch after knee replacement surg. I have another bone on bone knee and fibromy.. so he increased fent to 50 mgs today and dropped me to four 4 mg dilaudid. Do you' ll think this will help for my chronic pain?
Only time can tell. One of the great wonders in the world is the human body - each of us is made different, yet the same. No one call tell you for certain that this change will result in better pain relief for you. Just have to try it and see. I will tell you that after living with chronic pain for 15 years that it is a good idea to keep your doses of pain meds as low you can - your body will become tolerant and require more, along with the side effects and complications of these medications. These two medications in particular are very strong opiates ( pain meds). If you find yourself at this strong of a dose for bone on bone knees what would you be able to take that would work if you were in a car accident that required several surgeries? I don't mean to minimize your pain - both of my knees need to be replaced and they hurt the little bit that I walk. I just am concerned that you will have pain relief that will work in case you find yourself in a worse situation. I do hope that you can find a good combination of medications/treatments to treat your pain that will allow you to have the best chance at a normal life. -
It should . These two are very similar though ..almost too much alike ..I take my fentenal every 48 because it actually does not last 72 ..it will get too low and then you fight to get it back up. I take 100 mcg/hr fentenal every 48 and the ir oxycontin 10 mg ( instant release) every 4-6 hr for break thru ... its a lot but iv had a lot of surgeries and going back in next week .. these two are a very good combo though and you feel a lot better that with dilauded
