I am trying to help a lady with cancer get some of her drugs free.
She is on so many - and has prescriptions she hasn't filled because of the $. One of them is for Carafate.
I have a few suggestions for you to help the lady out. First, ask at her hospital if they offer aid to people who can't afford their medications; I work at a Catholic hospital and we have an employ-based fund that employees can contribute to that helps people pay for their meds if they themselves can't pay. Second, you should ask her pharmacist; he/she may know if any of the companys of the drugs she uses offer assistance programs. Third, contact someone at your local MHMR office; they will definitely know of any programs that can be of help. These are just some ideas. I think you are a really compassionate person for worrying about a fellow human being in these times. God bless you! Good luck and please post back if you need anything else.
First, I agree with the first answerer. How wonderful it is to see someone with a good heart that wants to help another person in need! You are great!
Next. How do you know her? Do you know her from church, or work? If so, maybe you could let a few other people in on her plight, and take up a periodic collection for her meds very discreetly. I have done this a few times, for a few people I work with who could meet their co pays for meds or other needs. The local Health Dept. or Second Harvest Food bank can give you some leads for help, too. Also: go online to the manufacturer of the specific medications. They will often give coupons for deep discounts just for asking!
Thanks for being so great!
