I have type 2 diabetes
I'm having a hard time lowering my A1C levels. I live under trmendous stress so sugar levels rise. I had a nurse through my insurance co. mention this to me as something that may be helpful. My A1C started out at 13.6, lowered it to 8.5 in one month then down to 7 but recently shot back up to 10. I walk and watch my diet but still feel bad. I want to feel good again. I can't get rid of the stress, however, if there's a possibility that some weight loss can occur, maybe this will help. I'm deperate.
Do insurances companies cover byetta?
I have type 2 diabetes
I get this question all the time when working in the pharmacy. The is no way for me to know, even working in he pharmacy, until I actually bill the company and they send me a response. There are literally thousands of insurance plans and each plan it self could have different rules depending on who you are.
If you call the insurance company on the back of your card they will be able to tell you or at least point you in the right direction.
Yes, insurance companies over Byetta but that doesn't mean they all do. Some might cover vicotza, others might say you have to get special paper work, and others say no all together.
I will say that Byetta will not bring your A1c down low enough. It typically maxes out at around 0.7 to 0.9. So, if you have an A1c of 10 the lowest you are going to get is 9 or so by adding byetta, and that isn't low enough. In fact, according to the American Diabetes Association you might have to switch to insulin. Especially if you are exercising, eating right, and taking the medications as prescribed.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
