Pls help!!!
You need to take him to the ER and not leave until your son is seen by a specialist (meaning a pediatric gastroenterologist). I can't not believe they are giving a baby zantac! Have they done any ultra sounds? I am not a doctor, but I am a mom. Go back and demand your son gets proper attention. I dont want to scare you but something more could be the problem than a allergy to dairy. Please keep us posted and all the best sweetheart. I am sure everything will be all right just stick to your guns!!
Dear Kim: My heart goes out to you, as I had a very sick baby too. You do not mention how old your baby is, or what you feed him. You MUST give up the notion that doctors are Gods and realize that they are human too. Don't put them on a pedestal now, as this is your baby's health you are talking about! I learned that the hard way. First, you must find a pediatric gastroenterologist. Make sure that they know that it is an emergency appt. If you do not live in a city that has one, take your baby to a University Hospital wherever you are!! If you have to drive several hours, so be it. This is your baby's life you are talking about and something is very wrong. I don't mean to scare you, but this could be serious, and obviously, you are not happy with the treatment he has been receiving. One thing that I have learned, is not to take 'no' for an answer, and I don't care what a doctor or other nurses think about me. When you know that something is wrong with your baby, you are generally right. You are the mother, and you KNOW your baby. Finally give your baby probiotics which can be purchased in a good pharmacy or a health food store. Make sure that the probiotics are for babies. The best ones, (although most expensive), are refrigerated. Most of a person's immune system is located in the gastrointestinal system, and probiotics are merely yogurt cultures that help build up immunity. Don't feed the baby yogurt if he is lactose intolerant, but he can be feed probiotics without causing stomach upset. Good luck sweetie. I know what you are going through.
