I am taking savella, lamotrigine, dexedrine, tramadol, avapro, singulair, nasonex, lasix, crestor, hydroxyzine and hydrocodone. Every two or three weeks, I have flu-like symptoms for a day or two. I don't know if any or all of these cause the symptoms. I have fibromyalgia and most of these are to reduce my pain and fatigue, but nothing really seems to help. Maybe just make it worse.
You make me feel good. I thought I take a lot of meds each day. You take more than me. I'm not surprised they give you some kind of crummy feelings. But when you said Flu like symptoms what came to my mind of opiate withdrawal. You only seem to take 1 opiate. Do you run out of Hydrocodone early, and then have to wait a week or 2 to get more? And do the flu like symptoms go away shortly after you get more? If so then you know where they are coming from. That's the only idea I have, because I'm not even sure what all those drugs are. I know most of them, but not all of them. Hopefully someone else knows more than me. Have you asked your doc what could be causing the flu symptoms? What did he say? It wouldn't shock me one bit if he said he didn't know. That would be so typical.
To make a long story short... Tramadol will cause flu like symptoms. It's in the lesser known drug reactions section of the pamphlet but I've taken it on two separate occasions now and both times I've gotten flu like symptoms for at least 5 or 6 days and once I stopped taking the medicine it cleared right up. Check online and in the fine print of the drugs side effects.
Hi. I have fibro and I take a lot of meds to. And I take a lot of the same meds you take. I couldn't take the savella tho it made me throw up. But the flu like systems I have almost once a week or at least every other week. Or if I push my self to hard working around the house they come on. Its the fibromyalgia! At the beginning of being diagnosed, I went to the er a few times thinking I had some alwful infection or bad flu only to be told it was the fibro and to pace myself. Well that was 9 yrs ago and I'm still learning to pace. I'm doing a lot better tho as far as pacing. I have flare ups tho and it feels like having the flu and so tired! At least for me that's most of my flare up symptoms, not all tho. But that's how I describe it a lot as having a bad flu! And I'm laid up about 4 days with each flare up. That maybe what's wrong with u is the fibro. Its worth asking your dr about. I don't get on here much but I seen your question and thought I could help. Good luck!
