My brother was told that suboxone has a antidepressant quality yet he has never been so emotional, I know he has some depression ,he has been a chronic pain patient for over 25 years, he gets feeling helpless and has had some hard times. He does take Trazadone for helping with sleep, and that is an anti-depressant, This is day 9 and he has had to take alot of advil for pain, his doc;s recommended he not take lots of the advil because he has only one working kidney, and it gives him acid reflux troubles as well. Thanks Thor for your advice,I am sorry someone gave thumbs down, your answers are great! a million thumbs up for you :) This site is such a great help to us! thanks again and I look forward to your feedback!
Please explain to me, today is day 9 for your brother of what? I am lost with this. Day 9 off Sub, on Sub? If on Sub what is his dose? Or day 9 off Methadone? What was his ending Methadone dose? I can probably help you. But I don't know what you are trying to do. What are we working towards, what is the goal? Btw, feel free to send me a pq.
I think most people who go on Sub and who have a certain kind of depression do get the AD effect. But it can take a few weeks to quite a few months for it to happen. I am uncertain because when I went on Suboxone I had a lot of problems with the Naloxone in the Suboxone. After 6 months emergency surgery caused me to go off it a month. When I went back on I inducted myself using Subutex. I then stayed with Subutex the next 5 years. I'm not certain when the AD effect began. This was back in 2005, and my memory just isn't getting better as I get older. Strange, huh ;-) LOL
I think to get the AD effect usually the person has to have the kind of depression that is highly drug resistant to treatment. I mean resistant to the common AD meds, including Trazodone. Has he tried Wellbutrin and/or Pristiq? Those are slightly successful for me. Wellbutrin works best for me in combination with Bupe. Btw, I often write Bupe instead of Subutex. If I mean Suboxone I usually write Sub. This is because I am a slow typist. I read you're a nurse. Maybe you know the name of the kind of depression I mean?
If you say it I will recognize it.
I wish DC had a chat line, and a way to know when another member is online. But they don't, so I have to wait until you respond.
