... did not experience anymore pain. It's been 5 days since I have been off them and now I am in pain. I have not eaten any foods that could get stuck inside my colon. Does this mean the infection is back?
I've had surgery on the same problem.
You need to call your doctor to nip it in the bud. You may need a longer treatment of antibiotics.
I would monitor my temp until you got in to see your doctor. I hope you are seeing a GI specialist.
A fever is definately a sign of an active infection with diverticulitis.
Hi Pennyann: After I was diagnosed with diverticulitis, I had a similar problem. I continued to have pain for a couple of months afterwards. It was a serious infection and sometimes just takes more time to heal. The antibiotics continue to work after you get through taking them. You don't mention having any problems with constipation in the meantime? That's good. I was told to take Miralax for a while after my round of antibiotics to be on the safe side. Also was told to eat ground flax seed in my yogurt. And have patience in the meantime. And contact your doctor know about your pain!
