I have been using methadone for pain management but have been unconscious most of that time. I went through withdrawal this weekend but still need something for pain including headaches that have sent me to the emergency room in the past. There must be a non opioid, non addicting pain killer that comes close to the pain relief of methadone and fenynal. If you know what it is tell me now. I refuse to take a methadone but the pain is about to win.
Difficult to say what would be best for the pain without knowing the source. The following is a link to medications for headache that are not opiates:
Most of these are non steroidal anti inflammatories many of which can be found over the counter.
If you have been on methadone over 40mg for any length of time you most certinally did not go through withdrawl over the weekend. I have been through withdrawl twice from methadone. The first time I was taking 40mg a day. I can tell you it took two full months and was absolutely the worst withdrawl I have ever experienced. The second time I was only taking 20mg. The withdrawl was still bad but did not take as long. I don't know what the strongest med for back pain is but oxycodone 30mg combined with methadone works well for me.
You are in too much withdrawal to think that there is a non opiate pain reliever that will compare to methadone or fentanyl these are at the top of the food chain as far as Pain relievers if you are no longer in pain then go through a medical detox perhaps with Buphrenorphine and then reduce it but do not try and stop cold turkey it could kill you methadone can stop your heart or lack of it after being on it for a long time. There are NO NON OPIATE PAIN MEDICINES that will take the place of either of those.
