You are misunderstanding. Methadone is Methadone. That's all it is. There isn't any other active ingredients. You don't want to know what the inert ingredients are do you? That varies with who makes the pill, and many companies make the pill.
Basically Methadone is synthetic Morphine, and yes it is addictive. It is an Opioid and so of course it is addictive. It may or may not help you get off other opiates. It didn't help me. It's more useful for Heroin addicts who are hooked on getting high, because after several weeks Methadone no longer causes a high. If you're primary reason for taking pain pills is pain relief, I suggest you do a slow taper off the pain pills.
Suboxone may help, but Sub will give you a sky high resistance to other opiates. If you need them again for pain, you will need massive doses. The docs will deny this. But it's true.
Just do a slow taper off pain pills. You'll have a month of misery, but then you should be OK.
