with my doctor. i have been researching the drug and found out there is an xr. which one do those of you taking the med prefer? thank you.
I prefer Lamictal rather than Lamictal XR for an Antimanic agent because Lamictal has shown alot of promise in reducing Manic/Mixed episodes and major depression when it was only FDA approved as an anticonvulsant. Patients that were treated with Lamictal for seizures and had a mood disorder too noticed these effects helping them.
Briards, I agree with Kolinopin. I too take regular Lamictal. It has made a huge difference in me. Everyone is different, and it's not for everyone I know, but for me personally... awesome medication. I wish I had started taking this a few years ago. Ask away. If we can help you... we will, or hopefully someone else will come along and help. Never be afraid to ask though. Your Friend, Ruthie
As with babyr and Dr. Wildcat, lamotrigine has completely changed my life for the better, been depressed for 30 years, tried everything, nothing worked very well until started taking lamotrigine(also take bupropion). I don't take the xr cause its too expensive. I'm also unipolar, never had a manic episode.
