So these past few weeks I’ve been having lots of discharge, usually white but sometimes I have mucusy green discharge. On top of that, I have a vaginal odour that can smell quite fishy at time. So all these symptoms point to BV, right? So I go to my doctors and she does a swab, and it comes back positive for yeast. I don’t think a yeast infection is supposed to have a fishy smell though? Is there another reason for this smell? She prescribed me canesten and I’m worried that this may have been a false positive, but I think I’m going to take the canesten anyways. Will there be any side effects in taking canesten if I actually don’t have a yeast infection?
Sounds like a definite Bacterial infection. Yeast discharge would look like cottage cheese . I don’t think the yeast medicine will hurt you maybe you have both a yeast infection & a bacterial infection at the same time. If I were you I’d start the yeast medicine now just incase & then definitely go back & get tested again because in my experience those cultures aren’t always accurate. Good luck
