I have been taking Oxicontin the past year and now it's loosing it's effect. My Dr. say's that is common with oxicontin and wants me try dilaudid. Why cant she just increase the oxicontin vs switching? what are the benefits of switching?
Hi concerned son I just switched to exalgo a dilaudid based longterm acting medicine from opana a morphine based longterm acting medicine and I have noticed that it is better and I seem to have clearer thinking. I still need dose adjustment to the exalgo cause I was taking 80 mg a day of opana and a low dose of the dilaudid does not help a whole lot with my pain issues. But after taking opana for 3 years it had got to the point where I was in a heck of a lot of pain. Now I know that we get used to these medications so a rotation is good to keep the medications at strength. Take care
