Oxycontin is continuous release or time release, (that's where the contin comes in, contiue) it will release slowly through out your body in 12 hrs, whereas, oxycodone is imediate release which is usually taken ever 4-6 hrs as a breakthrough medication. I hope this helped you understand better?
