The actual ingredients..And which one works better for depression???
These meds are very specific to the need of the individual, not telling which will work better for you, they may both work well, neither may work, no way for anyone to tell except you & your Dr. As for the other information, go to the top of the page and click on "Drugs A-Z" you can look them up and get ever little detail about each one, and any other you may be curious about.
I have been on both of these meds at different times and am still on Lexapro after many years. I had side effects on Celexa that I did not get with Lexapro... namely unusual bloating and fatigue. I mainly struggle with seasonal affective depression & Lexapro has been the best A/D for me personally (I had previously tried Prozac, Celexa, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Effexor, amitriptyline... ).
Lexapro is commonly touted as being Celexa's 'cleaner' sister drug, it was developed after Celexa by the same makers and its brand patent lasted a long time. I personally find it much cleaner (little to no side effects for me), faster acting, and has shown greater efficacy than Celexa for me. I agree with the first reply as well, your mileage may vary, so please try to keep an open mind and be patient.
Best to you!
