Is there a difference in what should be done if I am on my period while I had unprotected sex?

You should still use some form of birth control. It is still possible to get pregnant while on your period if you are not currently using a hormonal contraceptive or some other form of birth control. Other than that, there is nothing special to be done. If you are not on the pill, or using some other form of birth control then you still need to have your partner use a condom.
