I take norco 10mg daily for pain. I went to my dentist today who told me i have an abcess and prescribed Vicodin. He knows I take norco. He said Vicodin is more effective on dental pain. Anybody know if that is true?
This question has also been asked and answered here: Norco vs Vicodin - How do they compare?
I definantly agree with christine doctors make up all kinds of bullshit. I also believe that because norco is a stronger pain medicine only certain doctors can prescribe it like physicians and pain managment docs. I personally never had a dentist prescribe more than vicodin for pain.
Norco and vicoden are two different brands of the same drug, hydrocodone/acetaminophen.
The difference in strength depends on the amount of hydrocodone. For example a Norco 5/325 is the same as vicodon 5/325 (5mg hydrocodone & 325mg acetaminophen)
However the FDA does allow for +/- 20% variance in the the ingredients. IMHO pharma companies wouldn't make something that's -20% because the users would stop buying that brand
