What is the difference between Humalog insulin and Novalog insulin?

Depends what is prescribed. I take Humulin N which is NPH. This is a slow acting base insulin which tends to maintain glucose at a more even balance. The R insulin is fast acting and tends to be on a sliding scale. It is used after testing blood sugars right before a meal to be sure your levels are normal before eating so you don't go too high. These are pens.
