... Zoloft 200mg and starting Brintellix 10 mg.. Is one better than the other ? Zoloft was for anxiety / depression. Nothing being said about anxiety now just major depressive order which apparently Zoloft is not meant for and not working anymore, can you build up an immunity after being on Zolotf for a few years ? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank You

I just started this new med last Friday so only a few days just hope it works well
Any antidepressant can stop working after a while... your body can build up a resistance to it.
Also, sometimes other medications you have can interfere with antidepressants. This is one reason it's important to let all of your health care providers know everthing you're taking.
I've not heard of Brintellix so I don't know how it differs from Zoloft. Just remember that it can take anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks for a new medication to have its full effect. I hope this new one works well for you! Good luck!
Depression vs major depressive disorder is a matter of degree and length of time you have been experiencing the symptoms. We all have blue moods, but these generally go away in a few days. With major depressive disorder the depression lasts longer than a couple of weeks and is on going sometimes accompanied by anxiety. Brintellix is a newer antidepressant which may well do the trick for you. Going to have to give it time to work, 4 - 6 weeks, and you may need a dosage increase during that time to reach therapeutic level for you. We are all different in our responses to these type medications, so it isn't a one size fits all. It is by trial and error that we discover what works for us.
I know that I have major depression because I'm becoming a recluse, not smiling & feeling numb. 10 yrs ago I just had depression because I still had hope & medications that don't work now worked then. For example, Zoloft worked fine & when I took a Ritalin I got in gear. Now Ritalin does nothing & Zoloft is like a sugar pill. Also, I know that mostly everyone feels a lot better than me.
Not really Brintellix is more of an atypical antidepressant and is very potent it acts of 5 serotonin sites and is especially heavy on the serotonin 1A and in my experience (taken them both) it is a lot stronger than Zoloft and at 10mgs you will have less side effects than 200mgs of Zoloft. Give it a couple weeks and then see how you feel
