I've had osteomyelitis twice and the antibiotic course was about 5 months. I'm allergic to penicillins so I don't know the dosage of dicloxacillin would be, but I was on about 1000mg cephalexin and 500 mg of avelox for 4 months then switched to oral cephalexin the last month. It's a lot of drugs but osteomyelitis is very tough to get rid of.
I believe it would depend where your osteomyolitis is located at. I had it in my spine and first I had IV antibiotics and then I had 4000mg of Dicloxacillin a day for six years because I still had spinal instrumentation along my spine. After they took the instrumentation out I was on Dicloxacillin oral for two more years after surgery and another round of IV"S. I fought getting it discontinued because I Knew I would get sick all over again and I did. Seven years of off and on constant oral antibiotics for sinus going then to pneumonia and killer bone pain but noting ever showed up in the blood work even when I was at my ill-est(Is that a word?). Ended up with COPD because of all the infections. NOW this does NOT mean this will happen to you as I had a very severe infection and nearly died.
Each Doctor is different along with insurance company coverage unfortunately and Heaven only knows what Obama care will do to us but I fear it will not be good! I wish you only the best luck in kicking this disease-just stay on the Doctors back and make certain he's watching out for you! If he doesn't or won't get another Doctor-it's your life!
