I would like to know what the criteria is to diagnose someone with Alzheimer's.
Hi, I would like to suggest you go to the Alzheimer's Association website. I would also like to suggest you get in touch with a neurologist. Best suggestion would be to find a University Memory Care center. I did and got an early diagnosis and was put on medications early!
I understand that for a long time the only true way to diagnose Alzheimer's was through an autopsy(!). I believe they are thinking that a PET scan is now definitive.
From my understanding, there are a lot of ways Alzheimer's can show up, memory being only one. For me, it seemed to show up more as ADD symptoms of inattention and "zoning out" of my own life.
