I have been taking different antibiotics that don't seem to work. The only way I feel better is by taking a Percocet. It's my left nut that is giving me excruciating pain at times. What should I do? Get it cut out or what? My job is getting tired of me not able to work. Please please please help. Thanks
The treatment is to take antibiotics long term so you're taking the right type of medication, but after 2 months some relief would be expected. If you also have developed cysts form in the pained area then surgery may be necessary to drain them. For some people, all/part of the epididymis is removed to fully get rid of the infection.
Some non-medication pain relievers include: getting more rest, use of heat or cold therapy in the painful area (a sitz bath may be helpful), and making sure to support the scrotum may be helpful for pain.
For most people, epididymitis is out of the system within three months, so you're not outside that time frame. Surgery may be something to ask about at this point, but you may clear up still without needing surgery.
