Like it says, I need advice or help or whatever. I prob should have been diagnosed along time but I was stubborn and I didn't. I've missed out on a lot of happiness. I'm on Lacitimal and welbutrin. Anything would help, advice or even words of wisdom
I don't have any words of wisdom or advice but just wanted you to know that you are not alone as I too have just been told I have Bipolar disorder although they haven't committed to which one just yet. Like you I feel this probably could have been diagnosed quite a few years ago but it wasn't so oh well.
The doctors figured mine out when a med caused me to start having Mixed Episodes which has been more that a little scary. Now comes the fun of trying to find which med or combo of meds I need to take.
Wishing you success in finding what works for you.
I was diagnosed Bipolar type II 7 years ago. I started out on lamictal as well. Ive been seeing psychiatrists every week ever since. I thought my life would never get better and I've never been much of an optimist but it did. Took 5 years of tweaking my medication and talk therapy. Best thing I found was outpatient groups for bipolar patients. I'm sure your doctor can give you a list of ones near you. You have to find a group you really like but I've found them immeasurably helpful. Usually your insurance will cover them at least for a while.
Also, people are very ignorant about bi-polar disorder because of the way it's been portrayed in the media and popular culture so dont ever let people get you down or tell you to just get over it. If you dont have it, it's impossible to know what its like
I have bipolar1 and my sister has bipolar2. I can tell you she is mostly depressed and irritable and wants to sleep a lot. so she's mostly on the low side, everybody is different though. the important thing to remember is you will have that euphoric feeling at times( like you're superman) I know personally because I have bipolar1 and have that feeling most of the time & I made the mistake early in my diagnoses to only take my meds when I wanted to sleep which wasn't much. always take your meds & tell your Dr. when you feel there not working for you COMMUNICATE. hope the best for you & if you have anymore questions please do ask.
