When I headed a skin care team, we banned povidone iodine from our facility. It destroys healthy tissue. Enzymetic cleaners are best, then use something like hypergel in the wound. The wound needs to be kept moist because when healing, the new skin cells move across that moisture to close the wound. Also keeping that blood sugar tightly controlled really helps. If you use something like an enzymatic ointment be sure to keep it on the necrosis only.
