Elavil

I do not think this antidepressant would be good for you.

Before taking Elavil, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have:

heart disease;
a history of heart attack, stroke, or seizures;
bipolar disorder (manic-depression);
schizophrenia or other mental illness;
diabetes (Elavil may raise or lower blood sugar);
overactive thyroid;
glaucoma; or
problems with urination.

Interaction check:

Moderate Interaction: Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.

I don't think elavil is the best anti depressant either. I was on it before the ssri's came out, and I didn't have the effect I get from the new ones.

Regarding Elavil. I assume this is being prescribed by a general physician? I suggest you try another physician or see a psychiatrist for a better recommendation. I take Celexa and have Type II Diabetes. Being treated for depression and anxiety. There are other choices as well.
