.Glucose of 120, then 3 months later 132 before it becomes diabetes? (induced by neuroliptics) Thanks for your input.
A person can be in prediabetes indefinitely in some cases. It is different for everyone-there is no set course. Prediabetes is what some call it when your blood sugars are in the high normal to low end of high (if that makes sense) Blood sugars of 120 and 132 are the low end of high. Prediabetes are sugars starting at the 110-115 range-which are the high end of normal. Normal is considered around 95-105. This (prediabetes) is the "wake up" call to start watching your intake of carbs and clean your diet up to keep you from going into full blown diabetes. Be sure you add some exercise into your daily routine like a walk if you do not do so already (along with cleaning up your diet and limiting your carb intake) Also be sure you are drinking plenty of water (48-64 oz /day) Some newer studies have found being well hydrated may help to stave off high blood sugars. Many people are able to avoid taking meds by just diet and exercise at this point.
