I have read some info about this disease causing the person in the long term to be short in over all height and at risk of possible mental retardation. My 2 month old son was just diagnosed. Any helpful knowledge about this would be much appreciated!
I did the same reading and had the same fears but my son's nephrologist explained that in those cases the children were diagnosed much later (like 5 or 8 years old). They said that because it was diagnosed so soon and is being managed it isn't much cause for concern but they will always keep a look out. She said weight gain and growth may be an issue but I'm not sure if that is due to the disease or because my son was born premature at 33 weeks.
I'm hoping you'll see this, especially since its been some time since you posted. How is your son doing now?
