I'm going to be leaving my job and starting a new one as an independent contractor I had DI for 33 years and it's been extremely well controlled on desmopressin. This is the first time in my life that I have not had group health insurance. I've been working with an insurance broker who has contacted all of the major health insurance carriers. Every single one she contacted has denied coverage for me. I have the option for COBRA for the next 18 months which I am planning to take. I know things will change in January when Obamacare insurance becomes effective and pre-existing conditions cannot be denied. However I would really prefer to have regular insurance.has anyone had any luck in being covered for private policy and no at group policy? If so, by who are you insured?
If you're taking COBRA then they cannot count preexisting conditions when you get your own insurance. Taking COBRA is still cheaper then having your own, believe me, I've been there. Whatever you do do not go uninsured or preexisting conditions will count. I don't really believe the insurance cos will stop it they'll find a way around it. You might also be able to get assistance to pay for the desmopressin.
