... anxiety and depression.Any time I have a blip it increases to 30mg and I respond well. Recently I had a much worse episode and my dr decided I should go up to 40mg, this didn't go well and basically my dosage has been changed a good deal. I have settled on a dose for 4weeks now and I'm less depressed but I have felt every side effect which has increased my anxiety. I don't feel my usual self so I'm thinking I may have to switch meds (I plan to see a psychiatrist about this).
I'm wondering if another ssri could still work since this has worked well for me for so long or whether I would need to change to say an snri? My mum recently switched ssri to ssri and she felt a positive effect. If I could do this would I still suffer from side effects?
Lexapro is kind of the sister to citalopram (Celexa). It is suppose to have less side effects and appears to work well for a lot of people. It would make sense that this would be a possibility as your next choice. Talk to your psych doc about this. You may or may not have side effects when switching meds in the same class.
Hope it all works out for you :)
Debs; Welcome to the croud you have 2 good answer's. Best is talk over with your doctor which to try. But each one is different to us all because of our chemistry vs the pill were trying. So even if you wear out on one there are so many others you really don't have to worry it can be a easy switch from one to the other. But also it can be a bit difficult also. Until they hit the one that works the best for you. But the sooner you make the change the better you well be. Most the time they well taper you down on the one your on as they add the new one and it should be easier for you. Best of luck.
