I've had depression since I was 16 and I'm 34 now. Over the years I have found through lots of trial and error three medications that worked for me. Two of them I used for many years until they 'pooped out' on me and the third that worked great had so many bad side effects I couldn't handle it anymore after over a year on it. My psychiatrist told me that I've tried about everything and now we just got to try ones that used to work and hope they work again. So he put me back on Zoloft which is the first med I was on at 16. I'm on 200 mg a day but it's not working well. Sometimes I can't even feel happy with it. Never was on that high dose before. So now what? Here's a list of what I've tried, please tell me there's more that can work! Zoloft, Prozac, Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Paxil, Lexapro, Celexa, Viibryd. (I think that's all of them! We've also tried add-ons like abilify). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
hello!!! well, I, too, have taken the whole kit and caboodle of drugs, right now I am taking remeron as my antidepressant and it is working well, I also take abilify, Depakote and Seroquel... my moods are quite stable and I don't think of myself as being depressed right now, I am not 100% happy with the way things are right now, but that is because of several different types of illnesses... diabetes, high blood pressure, blah, blah, blah... but these things get better and don't always plague me... I think the pain from the diabetic neuropathy on my feet is the worse... I do not do pain well... but such is life..but the remeron does seem to help..the only side effect I have had is the sleepiness... I hope all goes well with you, please keep in touch..
