Brintellix is a new SRRI that works on 5 different serotonins. As with most SRRIs it has some start up issues. They vary, but normally include some nausea.
Differentiation from placebo takes place in about 2 weeks at any dosage. It takes 6–8 weeks for full efficacy. Doctors start you at 10 mg per day, but often use 5 mg (you need a pill cutter). At 5 mg the differentiation from placebo is minor even after 6 weeks. Some people get by with an ongoing dosage of 10 mg/day (me) while others need the maximum of 20 mg. Your milage will vary.
It is not designed to relieve anxiety and I still take Ativan from time-to-time, but the lessening of depression always lowers anxiety.
Talk to your doctor and read the guidance provided by your pharmacy. You will be fine.
