Any recommendations for a person who is moderate with alcohol when not depressed, but is almost always depressed? Looking for a drug that is safe to take until it kicks in full strength, and alters mood, mitigating the need for alcohol.
Well NO is the answer you have 2 choices tell the doctor right out and this is the problem why stay Depressed Alcohol is a Depressent by itself and the anti=depressant is to get rid of the depression so which do you want.. I wish you luck only you and not to mention the interaction between the antidepressant and alcohol that could be very bad in itself. good luck star...
Hi, i understand your predicament... Unfortunately the antidepressant medication won't work properly while you are drinking, you really need to stop drinking before starting to take antidepressants. Typically this type of medication takes 4 weeks, give or take, to reach peek performance, but drinking alcohol during this time will prevent it from doing it's job. Are you alcohol dependent? Have you and your doctor discussed ways to stop drinking? Other than starting antidepressant medication?
I find that drinking while your on your meds makes you more intoxicated. If you are not taking your meds and prefer drinking you are not progressing. Dont let alcohol or meds control your life. You be strong and control your life. Alcohol does nothing but destroys the liver. You seem to have a cycle an excuse to make yourself drink. Stop it and take precautions. There are no meds safe to take with alcohol.
