I don't know why my questions don't always fully post! The name of it is: BRINTELLIX (vortioxetine)
Hi, gurl! Vortioxetine was just approved for the treatment of MDD on Sept.30, 2013. It's classed as an *atypical* antidepressant with (possibly) fewer side effects that will be another option for people who haven't had success with currently available ADs.
It's too early to analyze how it will perform in actual usage by patients.
Best wishes, WCV
There have been two in the last few months
Septermber: Brintellix (vortioxetine) is for the treatment of adults with major depressive disorder (MDD). It is also an agonist at 5-HT1A receptors, a partial agonist at 5-HT1B receptors and an antagonist at 5-HT3, 5-HT1D and 5-HT7 receptors. I have found no studies on it yet.
July: Fetzima a once-daily serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults. Levomilnacipran binds with high affinity to the human serotonin (5-HT) and norepinephrine (NE) transporters (Ki = 11 and 91 nM, respectively) and potently inhibits 5-HT and NE reuptake (IC50 = 16-19 and 11 nM, respectively). I have looked at the studies, but I have no research paper, so comments will not be made.
Ask you doctor in either case.
Yes, I am in my second or third week of taking B. But I am weaning off of a boatload of other antidepressants slowly at the same time. So I can't say if it works because I did have withdrawal symptoms and other nasty side effects - not from the Brintellix. I am now on 20 mg of it and I am beginning to think it may be working!
