Does anyone experience this flat feeling. I don't enjoy a morning lunch afternoon. It's the same - I dont feel connected to life , like it's 4 pm and I have to pick up my children. I'm suffering so badly. I exercise eat healthy nothing works
I have been on Remeron for almost 8 years and it has done wonders for depression and PTSD, not so much for anxiety for which I am taking Xanax. I have multiple medical problems so these are well tolerated with my other medications. We all react differently, but I would give it an honest to goodness try. Don't give up b/c you don't feel better fast. Give it time to work. I hope you feel better soon. Take care, ChelleKay
I am sorry that you are struggling. It can be hard when you have a family.
Unfortunately these meds can leave you feeling 'flat' or as some say emotionless. I have tried most the SRRI's and SNRI's and Elavil. Most gave me bad side effects. Remeron is known to pull you out of a depression, not sure it is for anxiety. I have the same sleeping issue on or off meds. The 3 am walking into a anxiety attack I have had for almost a year now. I have struggled with depression and anxiety for many years. The insomnia is new for me. The Remeron could be triggering your 4 am wake up. If you can try to give the Remeron another week or two to see if it settles down. I am not sure what you are taking it for, sleep, or anxiety and depression? I read at a low dose given at night it can help sleep. It is a waiting game to see if it will work for you. Talk to your doctor about maybe lowering your dose or another temporary sleep aid.
Did the other antidepressants just not work for you or did they give you side effects too? Let me know how it goes.
If you are not being treated by a psychiatrist, make sure you arrange that.
Treatment resistant depression needs specialist expertise.
There are a number of strategies to treat TRD. Combining meds from different classes or catagories. Boosting an AD with an antipsychotic, lithium or an anticonvulsant is an example.
If antidepressants really don't work for you you might be prescribed the other types of med without an AD.
You haven't tried MAOIs, so that is an option to consider. Parnate and Nardil are examples of this class. Some believe they are more effective than modern antidepressants.
Having only tried one tricyclic AD, Elavil, it might be worth trying another in that class.
Being on some kinds of anti depressants can cause people to seem emotionless especially if it's a lengthy time you've been on it. Some ADD medicines can also. For anxiety and depression, I have tried Zoloft, celexa, cymbalta and now I'm on lexapro but still having the depression symptoms. Adding Latuda tomorrow as a mood stabilizer and hoping it helps.
