I've just been able to get over a horrible time of depression through the help of cymbalta and talk therapy. I don't want to ever stop taking cymbalta because it seems to work right now and I don't want to ever go through it again. Is it safe to take cymbalta forever providing it still has effects?
Yep, it is ok to take Cymbalta for an extended period of time. I have taken it for years and years with good success. I recently changed to Pristiq because I felt the Cymbalta was making me too sleepy. I had no problems changing. So not to worry if the Cymbalta would happen to stop working there are plenty of other antidepressants to change to and as long as done correctly will not cause any ill effects.
Good luck with the new med,
I am on cymbalta as well for about 5 months now and not stopping it either. I don't have really any side effects either to let you know. Though my talk therapy has stopped, glad you are still going. It's totally fine to take cymbalta for a long period of time as I am going to be on it for a long time too. Are you having side effects from it? Please confirm...
I was a 5-year user of Cymbalta (60mg). The only reason I'm not still on it is that it quit working for me. :( I'd say that the fact that I found this website and can string a few sentences together with no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors shows that Cymbalta wasn't too hard on my brain. ;P
