Hi Mmei; YES been there and not an easy answer. You have tried so many different medications with little to no results I know this is so hard on you. Because you have to take these medications in most cases up to two months before you even find out if it is going to work, Then it just wears us out and causing even more depression. There is the option of maybe not being on the right dose of some of these medications and also there are some in the same family as these medications that have come out the doctor well know what they are. Then like with me it was finding the right combination of medications that work good together to balance out what your brain is not making enough of.
looking at your list I wonder why they have not tried to add some of the older medication's like the tricyclics type medication Have they ever tried with or without the current meds anything like nortriptyline, Asendin, Lithium, trifluoperazine etc.also Mmei would you ask your doctor about this blood test that shows if you have a condition lacking some kind of gene that makes some medications not even worth a try I just read about this. They are learning more all the time but as of yet I have not seen one patient that could not be helped by some type of combination.I well try and find more information but if your doctor does not know we need a different doctor. HAVE THEY CHECKED YOUR THYROID, AND HORMONES i am sure you told me yes on the hormone but wondering about Thyroid now.I well ask my doctor when I see her. I am so sorry just don't give up. Lots of medications even if they do not say depression they are still used for that called off-label use. And the just released a new SSNRI please don't give up your hope stay positive life well get better.Chuck1957 I am sorry im typing and cant see to correct errors Damn Chemotherapy. Please keep me posted. Chuck1957
It depends on the individual. I have suffered from depression since my teens (I am 61) and have been on a variety of medications both traditional and alternative. I am currently on a pretty heavy cocktail and still battle depression and suicidal ideologies, but was until recently able to work, etc. I'm a little low right now and have to do something about that. Other people go through a phase of depression with or without treatment and it just lifts and doesn't come back. Often in college or after having a baby. If you have recurring or never ending depression, you have to take it more seriously.
Mmei; Glad you are getting several others feed back and see that it is not just you. And we are far from out of options But I know it always helps to see that other people have been through this long road to. Should make you fell a bit better your going to come out of this my friend. Never give up and please keep in touch and let me or us know what happens. a friend Chuck1957
