It takes a bit of time, about a week, for the shot to begin to work. You are supposed to use back up protection the first seven days. If you didnt do this, you may have gotten pregnant before the shot had a chance to work. No protection is 100% but Depo is 99.9% so there is a less than one percent chance of getting pregnant but you do have to give it time to work.
