i had my first 2 Depo shots done then one month before my 3rd shot i switched to pills due to insane weight gain. then i stopped taking pills a month later and on my calendar it says I'm due for my third Depo shot next week. i had sex last night and the condom broke. is the Depo shot still effective since I'm due for a third one next week? does that mean I won't get pregnant?
You need to check with either a pharmacist or doctor. Depo supplies one artificial hormone, & depending on what pills you've been taking, the artificial hormones in those, may have worked against the one in Depo, & I don't know if it will be enough to protect you against pregnancy, now that it's got less of one & more of the other.
Hormonal contraception works by creating a specific balance of hormones, to prevent pregnancy. At this moment, you will have less of the hormones in the pills inside your body, so can't rely on those to protect you against pregnancy, but I don't know if what is left of the pill in your body, could be enough to affect the balance of hormone in Depo, & prevent it from protecting you. It depends on what hormones, I believe.
I'd rather ask you to check than risk giving you bad advice.
