Doctor should have informed you to wait six weeks after giving birth before sex so that your body can heal and you do not develop an infection.
As for fertility after a birth, you are very fertile. You had better talk with the doctor immediately. You do need condoms to prevent pregnancy. Women often have children a year or less apart. This is not good or you nor for a developing baby. Breast feeding is not a perfect birth control either.
My answer is that maybe you are fine at four weeks, but by six you are gambling. Again, that is a maybe. Let us know what your doctor says, please.
