... before it stops
Unfortunately, no one knows! That's the honest answer, although I'm sure it's not the one you wanted!
It's different for every woman. I was on Depo for 18 years, & because the Manufacturer says you shouldn't be on it for longer than 2 years (unless there is no other contraceptive option for you), I had to have breaks ever few years. On the first of those breaks I had, I bled very heavily & constantly, for 2 years! On the second break, the same happened. Years later, on the 3rd break, I barely got more than spotting for a few months. My cycle still wasn't a regular, monthly period, though. It was annoying spotting, some days & then not others, all month long.
That time, I started using a herbal liquid in a little water, twice daily. That brought my cycle back into a regular monthly pattern, & I never had any more trouble.
the only thing is, I couldn't use any other form of hormonal contraception, when using the herbal stuff. I had to find a different type of protection.
If you want the name of the herb, just let me know. It's the only thing that's ever worked for me. On the other breaks, I'd tried several procedures to stop the bleeding (I'd had D&Cs, where they scrape away the lining of the womb, whist you're under a general anaesthetic), but that only worked for a couple of months, & then the heavy bleeding & terrible cramping came back.
I tried using Provera, another drug they give you to stop the bleeding, but it was just putting more drugs into my body, & didn't help in the long run. It just started again.
At least the herbal way was natural & worked to support my body's natural functions, getting me back to a regular cycle, naturally.
