... get my next period to get a next one or can I still get it?
you should still be able to receive your shot if you miss it. I'm not sure how your doctor does it but with mine, I get my shot, go 2 months and as soon as the 3rd month hits, I get to either get my shot the 1st day of the 3rd month, anytime during the 3rd month, or the last day of that 3rd month. I know some places are different, and do it on the last day of the 3rd month. I'm not sure how yours works, but I'd call your doctor and schedule it if at all possible.
No. It just means you'll need to also use other protection until the next shot has been in your system for 7 days, & that you are no longer covered against pregnancy, until that time.
If you get the next one on the first day of your next period (or within the first 5 days), it will cover you as soon as you get it.
