Depakote - Is 500mgs a normal (sic) dose?

Depending on the age/weight of the patient and their particular condition, 500mg of Depakote is a reasonable starting dose. The physician is supposed to draw blood levels and liver function tests after a month to see if the medication is at a therapeutic level in the bloodstream. I have seen doses of 2000mg/day of Depakote but that is not to say that you need that particular dosage. That is for your physician to decide. I hope this helps! If you have any further questions, please ask!
