Dental Abscess - Can amoxicillan and penicillin be used for the same thing?

Yes, Amoxicillin is used in the treatment of dental abscess.

Yes Masso is right. I think it is what I was prescribed.
They are both in the same family but differ in what bacteria is involved.
My question to you...
Do you have an abscess and have antibiotics on the shelf prescribed for another illness?
You should not be doing this without seeing a dentist.
You have to remember that the brain is close to teeth so abscesses should not be taken lightly.
If things worsened and you ended up going to the dentist to explain you already took antibiotics...

Make sure you check the expiration date on the label.
