I cannot walk easily, I can't get up, I can't twist left or right, and it hurts when I breathe. I used a hot patch, Bengay, and Ibrofin, but it doesn't work. I went to the emergency room and they said to follow up with my primary care doctor ( which I don't have). Could you help me out and tell me what to do?
Did they do any testing in the ER? Xray, urinalysis, bloodwork? Did they give you any medications either in the ER or prescriptions? It could be many different things, but without knowing what the ER doc said it was, there's no way to narrow it down. Try moist heat, like a hot towel, or soak in a hot bath. If it is a pulled muscle or muscle spasm, the penetrating heat should help. I agree that you should go to the urgent care center or get set up with a primary care doctor to find out what might be going on. Sorry we couldn't help more.
Hello. Listen to what the others have said as the follow up is important.
It would help if you told us what they said at the hospital. Did they say this was a muscle? What did your discharge sheet say?
Heat does help. Rest is important. Trouble breathing has me concerned. Are you taking anything for the pain?
Unless they told you what it was, it is hard to tell you what to do. Did they test to be sure it was not a kidney stone? Did they think it was a pulled muscle? A spinal disc problem? Did they xray or do a CT scan? Did you tell them that you do not have a PCP because they could have given you a list of Drs to choose from. If you didnt tell them, you can contact the ER and ask them to give you names and phone numbers of PCP's in your area who take your insurance. I would recommend that you do find a primary care Dr so that you can follow up rather than try to treat it on your own. If the ER thought you could treat it at home they would have given you directions to do so.
